Medical Definition of PLANTAR NERVE
: either of two nerves of the foot that are the two terminal branches into which the tibial nerve divides: a : a smaller one that supplies most of the deeper muscles of the foot and the skin on the lateral part of the sole and on the fifth toe as well as on the lateral part of the fourth toe—called also lateral plantar nerve b : a larger one that accompanies the medial plantar artery and supplies a number of muscles of the medial part of the foot, the skin on the medial two-thirds of the sole, and the skin on the first to fourth toes—called also medial plantar nerve
